A power of attorney in Thailand could be a limited, durable or non-durable poa, hands over certain control to another person. There could be different reasons behind a power of attorney, in any case a 'principal' 'the person who wishes to hand over certain responsibilities or control of certain affairs' hands over control to the attorney-in-fact who takes control over the principal's dealings. A non durable has an expiration, a durable continues in the event the principal becomes incapacitated or mentally ill and a health care power of attorney gives the attorney in fact power in decisions and is used for medical purposes and the principle is unable to decisions (this is not a living will). A power of attorney to be valid in Thailand requires at least one witness.

All powers of attorney come to an end upon death of the principal.
